Unfinished

"Unfinished"  Image by D. Bolton
All of a sudden, I'm tired,
And I need to rest.
Too much information in this techinical-savvy world
Invades my brain and my space.
Where is quiet and simplicity in life -- just the joy of being?
How do I learn to keep the strife of others from invading the tentative peace
That can easily be shattered by my own perceived inadequacies?
Why do I care?

All of a sudden I long for a glass of lemonade or a cup of tea on the porch while chatting with a friend.

Instead, I wonder if there are some people I should unfriend in this world of instantaneous connection.

But I answered a call.
How can I turn from that?

And yet, I wonder will my friends see that "Like"
The ad that isn't me, but was posted by someone else.

Will they wonder who I really am?
How careful should I be in a world that needs a Savior?
It's not about me,
Or my reputation.

It is all about Him, Jesus, who was accused of eating with sinners.
And I'm so glad He did.
They knew how to laugh and appreciate Him.
They were happy to find love that was real with no pious facade.

I have never ever liked pious, self-righteous facades,
All about looking and feeling justified,
But bogged down in legalistic jargon.

Why this rant?  I don't know.  Maybe, I feel a bit low.
But only for a moment.  It will pass.

I am just trying to remember I have to walk where God takes me,
Regardless of whether it fits in my little box of  safety,
My notion of who I am supposed to be.

  1. Heartrending thoughts here that we can all relate to, Debby. Sounds like you're having one of those feeling overwhelmed days. Having a rest, with feet up, cup of tea in hand is just what you need. I can't supply the tea (or cakes) but I can offer sympathy, understanding and prayers. You have offered me a glimpse into a heart willing to follow the hard path and with a great gift of making things beautiful in the process.
Loving the art work here! Such talent. Love you too. Rest easy, my friend, and be strengthened in His presence. Blessings of peace and healing :) xx
